CANAN @ "September 13th" in Diyarbakir

CANAN is participating in the exhibit titled "September 13" organized by Diyarbakir Art Center (DSM) at Diyarbakir, Diyar Galeria. Continuation of last year's exhibit "Darbe" (Strike), "September 13"  is an extention of last year's exhibit titled "Darbe" (coup d'état). The show takes in hand the incident of 30 years ago with today's perspective, as the people woke up to tanks and soldiers on the streets, and the general's speech on the radio after September 12th.In the exhibit curated by Azra Tüzünoglu, CANAN takes place with her last video-legend "The Waqwaq Tree". The video, embracing a documentary style, begins with the story of this tree and the Janissary incident in the Ottoman times leading to the military strikes up to  recent Turkish history. Also displaying works of Halil Altindere, Asli Çavusoglu, Köken Ergun, Bengü Karaduman, Sener Özmen, Özlem Sulak and MSGSÜ Kolektif Bellek Group, the show can be seen until October 10th.
